we haven't exchanged gifts for valentines day since we were dating. and that was him getting me something and me not getting him something because we had agreed (actually i just told him) valentines day was dumb.
the weekend before valentines day he brought this home from an auction for me. isn't it glorious? and it came with 5 aluminum cups as well. super swell, don't you think? he sure knows how to buy gifts! and, we decided the best part about it, if (and it's a big if) i come to not love it as much as i do now (not likely) we can sell it in our shop for a nice profit.
and what did i get him? that very same day i picked up a hummingbird feeder at the thrift store in town. our back yard is a home, vacation spot and pit stop to a potpourri of birds all spring, summer and fall. we've seen a hummingbird a few times, so why not try to entice them as a destination spot with some sugar water? I'm excited to hang it and sit on our back step and watch them flock to the best sugar on the block. yeah, buddy.

So I guess this year marks a "new" approach to the old Valentines day traditions...hummmm?????
ReplyDeleteThis may be your best find yet. And as for sugar water. Ever see Men in Black? Now, I'm going to have "eggar suit" in my head all day!
ReplyDeleteThis summer when the fresh fruit is boomin' you're going to love it even more...yum!
ReplyDeleteHelloooo! Thanks for stopping by my place for my giveaway. It is so nice to meet you. Your blog is a breath of fresh air.
ReplyDeleteThe Childcraft dish is YOU! I remember seeing it when wandering around the group on Etsy. Oddly enough I love it. Maybe because I had the books as a kid.
My Hubby is a "Phone Guy" later I have to show him your mom's box phone.
Happy Thrifting! Mary
yummy. I can remember getting the best milk shakes at a little store down the street from a milk shake maker just like this. Enjoy!!
ReplyDeleteI have that same shake maker. Love that your husband found it for you. I also love the colors in your blog and the font you've used for the text!
