brace yourselves. i'm going to throw out something that will seem pretty far fetched. and it may even blow your mind.
we did not bring one thrifted item into our home this weekend. not one. i know. how rare a time it was. we didn't know what to do with ourselves. we just kinda wandered around our home, looking at each other with these puzzled and confused looks. we did lots of those palms-up-shrug-shoulders-raise-eye-brows looks of bewilderment. neither of us were sure what to make of it. i mean, don't get me wrong. we tried. brent went to an auction, but it was really gross dirty (as opposed to dirt dirty...which we aren't afraid of)...and i (against my better judgement) was lured into our local thrift show even though last week i mentioned i should maybe take a week off from there. and nothing. both of us...nothing.
plan b: cleaning party. we didn't clean boring stuff like our bathrooms and kitchen floor...we cleaned fun stuff like our 4 typewriter tables, 3 stools, 5 rotary dial phones, 3 kitchen carts...yes! brent, his momma, and myself cleaned stuffs-n-suches for a good long while saturday afternoon and sunday afternoon. over 50 items are now ready to be photographed and listed. the immense relief this gave me (and brent too) was most definitely *heel click* worthy. tis a glorious weekend when the productivity is to that high of a level.
along with cleaning, we pulled out items to donate and also items that are cool, but too new to sell on etsy. these three polaroid cameras are examples of the latter.
want to get one of these polaroids for yourself? asking $8 plus shipping. email me here, comment below with your email address, or get a hold of me somehow and lets make it happen.
linking up with apron thrift girls - thrift share monday. and also what's for dinner mom. go on, get you some!

i love the way you write (heel click worthy - so good.) how old does something have to be to be listed on etsy?
ReplyDelete@ thrift shopper for peace....things on etsy have to be 20 years old or older to be considered vintage...so, 1993 is the magic year this year. although...i have a REALLLLY hard time thinking something from 1993 is considered vintage. i mean...i graduated in 1995 for petes sake! gah!
ReplyDeleteSometimes a good weekend of cleaning and not bringing any more "stuff" home makes me happy! The following weekend I find I am all revved up and renewed for junkin! And yeah, calling 20 years ago "vintage" cracks me up. My guess is the people running Etsy are all about 16 years old. :)
ReplyDeleteI recognize the feeling of celebration of getting stock ready to go and not bringing in anything fresh to clean/price/tag/wrap etc. I love shopping the house to see what can go in to my booth and I look forward to winter when there are no garage sales so I can sleep in a bit on Saturday morning and not work so hard throughout the weekend.
ReplyDeleteI stayed in this weekend too, it was killing me not to go out but I too had some cleaning and organizing to do.
ReplyDeleteLOL - i guess i'm vintage then. i graduated in 1982!
ReplyDeleteOh Leah...a whole month of not thrifting was my goal for January. I REALLY need to follow your lead and get things cleaned, photographed and listed before I bring anything else home. I haven't been very successful so far...the siren song of the thrift store is just too strong I guess...but bravo to you!
