we knew early in the week there were 2 auctions on the same fair grounds on the same saturday in february. silly us, we thought we would be the only ones (or maybe just one of a handful of ReSellers) that would want to take advantage of this rare occurrence. um. wrong. dead wrong. *shaking head*
when a pressed wood table (pressed wood, people!) and 2 chairs (two! not 4!) went for more than $200 we knew it was going to be a gigantic waste of time (not to mention a real buzz kill to the weekend) to be at either auction all day. so, about noon, we called it. no more standing around being reactive...it was time to get all proactive with our saturday. we headed to one of our secret honey holes! *faint roar of cheers and hoops-n-hollers*
brent found all these wonderful pastel bathroom items. we've sold a couple of the toiled kleenex boxes before and a nice minty green set of laundry basket and wastebasket. (brent, i call not it on cleaning the wicker)
3 sewing boxes (the lady thought we were purchasing the stuff inside i think -- nope, lady, we like the boxes, thanks!) they all latch securely...always a bonus. i can't leave behind lights like that one above. serious love for this sort of industrial....and they remind me of my grandpa spieker. so...any guesses as to if i will be selling that lamp?
i know. no words.
a moment of silence for the totally awesome chair.......
a freakin apple picker! and it's orange! i saw it. grabbed it. and since we were in the very back room...i had visions of carrying it like a torch and jogging to the front of the store and then trotting around the whole store with it held high. -- why? why the heck not. i'm stoked. not sure this will be sold. (i see a pattern forming here)
brent has an eagle eye for typewriters. eegads, not sure how he found this in all the clutter, but he did and it's a nice one.
fun nugget: we almost left without the chair, white shelf and red sewing table. yeah. i know. we're awesome. in our defense, we did leave them in the back room (per our usual routine) so we don't clutter up the front of the store. and then we proceeded to spend another hour in the store and buy more stuff. and when it was time to go, i had to go to the bathroom something fierce so my mind was already out of the store and down the road.
i'm a part of thrift share tuesday!
the apple picker is one like your grandfather made so many years ago......priceless
ReplyDeleteOMG! That chair! Wow!
ReplyDeleteAll the stuff you found is ultra great, but to me that chair is the pic of the bunch! And the industrial lamp.
WHOA amazing haul, especially if all of it came from one store! Quite the honey hole indeed. I'm loving the apple picker and my mom collects those sewing boxes, she has the original two she actually bought back in the '70s (now I pick them up at thrifts & estate sales for her).
ReplyDeleteThat is GOOD shopping. Love your finds.
ReplyDeleteAwesome finds! Love the cart and sewing boxes. If the boxes had been filled with vintage sewing notions they would have caught my eye.
ReplyDeleteLove that apple picker! I too would have run with it through the store like a torch :)
ReplyDeleteYa done good! (Love the chair and the sewing table) :)
ReplyDeleteWow, the chair is great and that cart is awesome!
ReplyDeleteYou done good, Leah. You done good.
ReplyDeleteCurious what you wanted the plastic sewing boxes for, for storing goodies?
